Hey everyone, just dropping by to let you know alchemedium is alive and well and still hard at work on A Tofu Tail. I know we haven’t had a proper update in several months, so we are definitely overdue in updating everyone on our progress so far. Most of the progress that we’ve made in the last few months has mostly been bug fixes and programming; nothing terribly exciting. But we do have a few screens of the newly completed Tempest world below:
I know they are only static images, but the animations of the tiles in this tileset are some of my favorite. And what would a new world be without a kitsune or two to inhabit them? Without further ado, I would like to present: the Storm, Wind and Lightning kitsune!
With the Tempest world complete, that leaves us with a total of five worlds complete and two left to finish along with the corresponding dialogue for those two chapters. In case you’ve lost track of our motley crew of kitsune so far, the gallery below has mugshots of the rest of the tribe:
One of the coolest things about each new world in A Tofu Tail are the addition of mods. Each world that the player progresses to adds a new and exciting challenge different from the last. From lava that causes the tofu cube to “melt” to cloud cover that obstructs your vision, mods keep our core puzzle gameplay mechanic fresh and keep gamers on their toes, and our latest build has all of the mods from the completed four worlds in place. If you’re up for a real challenge you can turn on any combination of mods (including all of them if you want) in our free play mode.
In other news, a few months ago we submitted a build of A Tofu Tail to the IndieCade: International Festival of Independent Games. By the time this is posted, the winners of each category should be announced in a day or two. We’ve got our fingers cross that we’ll get some sort of recognition, so here’s hoping! Next month Brolley will be flying to California to check out the other submissions and hang out with some of the other indie devs at the festival.
