ATT Progress Update – Pittsburgh Art Gallery Crawl

The past couple weeks have been relatively crazy – jumping all over the place on different tasks in various areas. Trying to pull everything in and gain some focus has been a little bit of a struggle, but we are getting there. A project plan for the remainder of the development and push of A Tofu Tail has been pretty much solidified, and should help us pinpoint the next steps and let us focus better >.>

Marketing plans, social media strategies, fun business stuff… We will be diving into this in a little detail eventually, but this weeks focus is some of the plans for the next few weeks!

Pittsburgh Art Crawl

For all of you in or around our hometown of Pittsburgh, it looks like we will be showing off A Tofu Tail during this Spring’s Gallery Crawl in the Pittsburgh Cultural District on Friday, April 24, 2015!

You will be able to find us at 820 Liberty Ave from 5:30 – 10:00 pm. Come out, meet us, play the game, and see all the other awesome art stuff that is out during the day!

Though this front has been relatively quiet as most of the music is finished, one thing that remains to be improved is the sound effects. Up until this point, we have been using placeholder sound effects generated from two awesome tools:

These are definitely great tools for anyone starting out in game development, devs without resources to create or request sound effects of their own, or even just to play around with (it can be quite a stress reliever just to play around with these things!)

So after Tom wrote all of the awesome music that he has up to this point, implementing them into the game, and then playing through some of the levels, we noticed that the sound effects that we had previously generated were no longer going to cut it. There was a drastic jump in quality and craftsmanship between Tom’s carefully composed songs, and the randomly thrown together hodgepodge of “good enough” sounds.

With Tom and Ryan’s duties on other tasks, we are looking to contract the creation out to someone who has the time, experience, as well as skill to pull these together for us properly. We shall keep you updated on the progress of this piece of development!

Soon to come is the A Tofu Tail game and storefront icon – hopefully this or next week! While we wait for Sean to finish and polish this up for us, we will look at one of our main characters – the mysterious Woman in the Woods!

At the start of his journey, before he is even a tofu, Mr. Tofu is a wandering woodsman. He eventually stumbles upon a shiny fox shrine of great detail, along with a beautiful woman. This woman (a Kitsune in disguise) changes his form into her very own soy soldier to do her bidding!
